Inheritance?

I'm on social assistance disability and my parents are getting old, I talked to my mom today about inhyeritance when she dies, as far as I know the government would take anything left to me as an inheritance, is this true? For reference I live in Canada.

This is why life insurance is important for offsetting inheritance tax. The wealthy know how to use the system and have rigged it against the common man.
