Haha, in truth the irony of a Redditor proclaiming such things is not lost on me.
I can agree however that generally speaking forums tend to be either echo-chambers or extremely dead.
Most forums I have signed up to have been extirpated to appeal to a common denominator of user. Both .is and .net developed in a way I feel is concordant with this group seizure, they are blocs that echo the same paroxysm from place to place, yet I do delight in the rare coruscation from the scientific blackpill or similar areas. Generally speaking the types of people you will find on those forums are not different in any way from the people you would find on 4chan or a Discord server for instance; a lot of people are going through this homogenization and segmentation of thought that I find quite distasteful, personally. These people yearn to feel special by engaging in these fringe areas that paradoxically communicate a refinement of common sentiments and nothing more. Some forums are better than others, and I think in most cases the more fringe the topic of discussion the shinier the gems are that are produced; diversity of opinion really is strength. The good part of forums are the distillation of unique ideas and development of unique personalities generated from people who would typically be snuffed from the deluge of normie zeitgeist in standard social spaces. It's a controlled and unweighted environment that permits divergent personalities to shine.
