Alright I just discovered he also voices a Borderlands character too, and there’s parallels between them

Sensui gets blackpilled on travesties committed by humans in pursuit of greed, Axton is court martialed for neglecting missions and instead pursuing personal glory. Both display a very black and white world view. One wants to liberate the world of its facade of morality, vis destroying the greater of evils, while the other is very self righteous in his occupation.

Sensui adopts personas to cope with his horrific past, Axton becomes schizophrenic only trusting his turret in combat

When Sensui dies he is eternally embraced by Itsuki, whereas Axton will only accept a relationship with his turret.
