While I was lying down earlier, it hit me what kind of hell my life would probably be if I had been (un)fortunate enough to get married.
I’d never know real peace. I’d never again be able to just lie down by myself without someone yelling at me for being lazy. I’d end up chronically stressed, looking haggard and aged well beyond my years. Eventually I’d probably become one of those guys who builds a shed or a workshop out in the garage... or maybe just hangs a hammock in there... so I’d have somewhere to retreat and finally breathe.
Maybe, before I was born, I actually chose this life of celibacy so I could simply relax in peace more often.
Leisure really is an aristocratic trait.
