Far as I understand you dont really missout by skipping earlier FF

Its more like just different time periods and different stories from the same campaign setting.

I suspect the FF7 remake is the perfect place to start but im over the hill

A few games have sequels (10 has one, 13 has two, etc) and there are spin off games. Aside from that each Final Fantasy # is distinct in characters and universe.

Most newcomers will find 1-5 unplayable and 7-8 dated. There are remake games for 7 tho. Only modern game I'd say stay the hell away from is 15.

I'm fairly new to JRPGs myself since I started playing them around COVID then got too busy to finish anything, then got too lazy so I haven't much to rec. Aside from Final Fantasy I like the Tales of series with Berseria being my favorite. As for standard RPGs, I mostly played FromSoft titles like bloodborne. idk that KCD u mentioned.

10, 13-2, 7 rebirth, and 16 were the best gameplaywise imo. I heard 10-2 has really good gameplay too (maybe a precursor to 13's paradigm system?) but it was too gay looking for me and my ranking of it is actually really unfair .

Asmongold Never played Skyrim and oblivion. Why? Because he was so stuck on world of warcraft. How do I know you are aware and not just stuck on FF?

I don't have much experience with JRPGs so I never meant to compare between franchises and ik most find the games to be dated. I just don't think you've played the good shit tbh.

You gotta compare to other RPGs and Turn Based strategy games. You put FF7 on C. Its kindof an average rating of yours. I see it like I probably had a mid experience with FF but the best FF in your opinion. You should compare it to something else.

I compared the FF games against each other here so a separate tier list would be needed if u just wanted me to rank each objectively as JRPGs. I'm not qualified for that atm.

a few tales of games, persona 5 (which I dropped 10ish hours in), hmmmm uhhh a bit of neptunia............yeah my JRPG experience is lacking.

I'm talking JRPGs cuz that's what's similar to FF. I've played many other "RPGs" like dark souls or Witcher 3 (dropped) or diablo but not many games worth comparing FF to. also I meant tales of berseria (my AVI) and tales of arise.

I dont know why you wouldnt compare them aside from the fact that they are all action rpgs with superb gameplay and comparing them to a straight RPG just isnt fair because gameplay isnt primary for RPG
