In the VCT Masters Santiago tourney, NRG, the current VCT Champions (won 2025) team NRG, of America, faced BBL from Turkiye today in a very, very shocking game. They took the victory with 2 maps won, Pearl and Split, over BBL's win on Abyss. Valorant is an FPS gaining in popularity recently, with an attack-defend site objective similar to Counter Strike. Masters is a qualifying tournament to select teams who will move onto the highest tier competition of Champions at the end of the year.
This game has been extremely dissapointing for both sides, and has efficiently exposed the flaws within each team's strategies and behavior. Many mistakes were made, and the final map was settled in a quadruple overtime.
BBL, as the rookies coming into the scene, demonstrated how inept they are in procedurally handling nuanced situations midround, and in staying calm and performing under pressure; conversely, NRG were shown to be too predictable, where the combination of BBL's novel talent and the reads gained on NRG's stock plays caused their Abyss to be lost, and lost them many earlyround advantages. In the embedded Twitter post above, BBL player 'lover's rock' specifically mentions that "if [they] play again, they will win", also stating that "We didn't learn too much from them. We knew what they were going to do, and it was obvious [...]".

Online comments and streamers have shown mild to grave offense at the newbies' arrogance/lack of sportsmanship, especially when their ego was not backed up by good structural play in-game. IMO I just think that Europe as a region has bias to think highly of themselves from their legacies in CS, but for the most part have acknowledged that in this game, the teams of NA are not only a major power but now regularly contest for top spots in rankings. Maybe the turkroaches, haven't gotten the memo to be humble yet.
inb4 shit game, I know. I watch the tourneys to analyze teamplay.
