I dont want to be on the porn forum anymore, I hate everyone that posts on that forum.
I hate their view of porn, its surface level "cynical", it pisses me off. The most people keep demanding quality but they do everything to suppress it.
The majority of users rely on Daz studio. In case you dont know its a posing software, which allows people to pose some 3D assets. This was going on before AI, and for some reason is still going on.
I always hated Daz studio, because it teaches wrong habits, and cripples the user in ways AI doesnt. Its a software where you slide some parameters and you can customize a character. It appears "innocent" on surface level, but its so damn limited it reveals to be actually bad for you. It breeds a type of mentality that is extractive, because Daz studio is for pay and asks you to do massive money investments on it. And whoever uses it has this goal of "earning mony" bcause it works smilar to herbalife ponzi schemes.
Other than Daz studio, they use AI, but this is not a problem in itself. AI can do good, and I seen some good porn done with it. But the majority is fucking slop and I hate it. And I dont understand wy people pay for that slop. AI is supposed to make you capable of doing your own AI slop, why bother subscribing to a patreon?
Patreon mentality is another thing I detest. It created nothing but waste, inefficiency, cults of personalities, endless scams. People open a patreon day 1, without any experience in any art field. Patreon is populist, patreon is inefficient, it is based on how much visibility you have on social media, how many friends you can monetize, how much you are willing to compromise to appease the minimum common denominator.
No wonder patreon became equivalent of saying "scam" because no porn game was completed thru it. People who donate to patreon are not treated as "investors", on the contrary they are called "paypigs" because they have no right to demand, they can only "support" and they cannot organize as a collective to exert demands on the artist. Its a structural flaw of patreon, or perhaps is by design.
the end result is the artist himself stagnates, and his only incentive is to prolong the development for as long as possible,for years. Because the more he delays, the more money. And n most of the situations all money was coming from patreon. When game is sold it underperforms, everyone complains, the price on steam is too high for what is being offered. Or is bugged ,incomplete, full of problems. But nobody fixes it. Because nobody has serious intentions, and after money flow from patreon stops, they stop the game entirely. Many such cases.
Which is why over 10+ years of activity, a total of zero porn games has been done.
All porngames that we seen came from asian places or were unknown on the porn forum, they were simply released without any parasocial support no patreon frauds.
Just being on that porn forum degraded me, demoralized me, made me argue with these people, drained my life, made m butthurt, I lost my time in that sewage.
Its a race to the bottom, fueled by an entry level sense of "cynicism", where people see only scam and theft in porn. People want "big bucks", and so few of them get their "big bucks" and when they do is always thru an extractive model that exploits parasocial relationships on the internet. None of it is promoting real porn, none of it helps artists.
Forum isnt dead. It will not be in the near future. Because is a hub for piracy so it has some function. Patreon isnt dead and i dont think it will die soon, because it works due to principles of the attention economy, and because theres always gullible people who believe in that shit. Instead Im very curious why daz studio didnt die, I thought with AI it would have had no purpose.
That said, im out. I cant lose time with that garbage, it breeds only inefficiency and is not helping me. It just maes me angry to see these people who talk about money and "what is useful" and their questions about money piss me off.
