I've heard that dogs and cats typically treat human babies the same way a lot of us treat puppies and kittens because of the way the mammal brain is engineered.

Yes, the puppies and kitens trigger the release of oxytocin, often called the "love hormone" or "cuddle chemical". This bonding hormone increases feelings of trust and relaxation while simultaneously lowering stress, blood pressure, and cortisol levels! I'll wake up some mornings lately and walk into the room with the older kittens and just rub my face in the pile of sleeping kittens lol they wake up immediately mewing it's so cute.
