go to an asian market and try their assorted dried or bagged snacks. avoid candies. not for any particular reason but they generally fail when it comes to being remarkable. one of my favorites is a spicy dried squid pack, almost like a jerky. it's pretty smelly but it tastes great. texture might be an issue for some folks. don't know the brand or country of origin.
