I follow slingshot community and archery community.
Inside archery community theres more scientific understanding of principles of physics and theres less mystery.
There are some paradoxes and things less known, but overall the basic key principles are known.
In slingshot world instead we dont currently know the rules of latex. We know so far that law of elasticity isnt usable.
But we are not bothered, because observation allowed us to understand the relations that matter.
Now, latex is viscoelastic and isnt 100% studied. We dont use always latex, other materials can be used. So the field is all empiric. It means simple spring equations dont predict projectile speed.
In aerodynamics, engineers often rely on empirical drag coefficients rather than solving the full fluid dynamics equations. Same in slingshot, you dont get to knowotall like normies do.
We know the relationship between projectile mass and the amount of latex, the effect of band thickness on retraction speed, practical stretch ratios, taper geometries, active band length.
Thats it. It works.
Its all "approximate" so normies will always slur us and tell us that we cant "demonstrate".
It makes me cringe when normies do this. Its same with meditation and spirituality really.
We cant measure spirituality but we can see what works. I simply noticed that what works for whites is "be white" and if we follow panjeet meditation we fail. Simple as.
But normies always want "complex" things that end up demonstrating 2+2=5 when simple observations already can lead us to success. Is far easier to admit 2+2=4 if you think about it.
