I'm not shutting down the forum because of monetary reasons. I pay a pittance keeping up this forum each month. The points that I've stated before are really the reason why and something I deeply care about and it's not some ulterior motive to close the forum because of poor finances.

Then just timeout or ban the problematic users. No reason to shut down the forum because of a few bad eggs. If finances aren't a concern then I think you should keep the forum up and running. I just assumed you didn't want to spend the money to keep the forum up

that's good to hear. if the issues aren't financial I think there's no rush to axe the forum and we can enter a sort of observational stage instead.

Logically if you close the forum down what is the alternative? Dabble in something else maybe? I really cant see you starting another forum if this one doesn't work out, I would stick with it and try to improve rather than abandon it and close it down.
