To be a hero

To be a hero is to stand up for the weak, to save others.
There was a time when I wanted to be a hero. Sympathy for a bullied kid made me want to stand up for him because I knew he was going through hell. Needless to say I felt fear, the bullies were stronger. I felt shame for being so scared and weak. Later I rationalised "He has to stand up for himself." "I was being naive." "I don't want to be his friend anyway, he's a nerd.".

I later found out people with very low self-worth dream of saving others. It is true.
That's all irrelevant. Whether it's naive or a wish for validation originating from misery. If the intention is there to help someone it's valid.
If you want to be a hero it is what your heart desires regardless of circumstances.

We want to be heroes because we are fundamentally good and there is no greater joy to us than saving others. Doing this we save ourselves-deep down we know this. God Himself is a saviour and He created us in His image. Being a hero is normal to us.

Your imgaination is truth. To doubt yourself and accept what you know is wrong is to sin. See yourself as the person you wish to become. Otherwise you will die in your sins.

You don't get to pick who you save on a call and the one that's sticks with me the most is being told "I think someone is having a problem in the rest room" the problem was a man with a heroin needle in his arm.

Between keeping people out of the bathroom and trying to keep this faggot breathing, I didn't lose the lust or drive for life but k figured maybe I shouldn't be trying so hard.

Later, a few days, he asks me if I stole his wallet.

This junkie who was had a literal need in his arm, passed out in the handy cap stall, face down ass up because he fell off the toilet, asking me if I had stolen his wallet.

Bring a hero is a choice and not a rewarding one that often you are compelled to do.

And that's the whole point being compelled to do it not a need or want. Not as if that matters but it's s disorder.
