I find myself enjoying Japanese games much more than western games

I’d say the only western game I found myself really loving was hotline Miami

I tend to normally like rpgs, and normies will jerk off witcher 3 and red dead redemption 2 endlessly. I tried both of these and honestly I don’t get it. Witcher 3 was mediocre and red dead was good, but extremely overrated

Meanwhile when I played dragon quest 11 I rotted on it all day and really got into it

I guess older games seem to be the exception? I used to be obsessed with morrowind and oblivion, but maybe playing them as a kid affected that and I wouldn’t like them as much anymore

Just too familiar with western media and its tropes. They become predictable.
I’ve moved to Korean films since dialogue in English ruins it for me. Charters scripts are so easy to guess at this point, and you can already assume what following scenes will consist of.

JRPGs have slight comedic undertones and aren’t as based in reality so devs have much more room to work with. Geralt is gay and to stoic that it gets boring.

Characters in western RPGs fulfill a role and have their place in a story, and the writers want there to be a very strong semblance of reality. It leaves out the fiction aspect of media. Like Plato’s Republic. In a utopia fictional qualities can’t exist, since it contradicts the vision of a perfect universe.

Well, I’m arguably more used to Japanese media tropes. But Zogslop themes don’t hit hard while a lot of jrpgs have universal themes that affect you no matter who you are or how old you are

Red dead redemption 2; forced to worship niggers and support a woman’s sufferage rally
Dragon quest: classic adventure that everyone dreamed of as a kid. Amazing atmosphere in 2nd act

japan makes the best media that isnt debatable and rdr2 is the most overrated game ever ppl who say its the best..... they need to consume... more media...
