Yeah but a lot of people are so lost from their true selvesI mean we all are different and unique look where we ended up
Yeah, i am tired and bored as well, really sad how the forum seems so dead right now...My biggest problem with the whole "oh, be different, be unique, there's nothing wrong with standing out from the crowd" is that, if you do just that, you're ostracised, shunned, and taunted. While I personally think I'm a "unique" person (I mean, I saw Joker in 2019 in a trench coat and combat boots - I did receive some funny looks) I'm not the only one. All of us on here are probably seen as outcasts or weirdos, hence why we're here in the first place.
But what you also have to realise is that everyone is unique - not one person is the same as another. When everyone is unique, no one is, because everyone is unique thus being unique means you aren't unique. It's somewhat paradoxical.
I guess like@Mathiverse said, "be unique" = be good-looking. Nobody likes a pimply, greasy, socially awkward outcast; everyone loves a shy, good-looking outcast. I mean, there's a whole genre of them in fiction, like Archie from that shitty show called Riverdale or whatever. It's a caricature in fiction. Those brooding, mysterious guys are the types women throw themselves after and say "I can fix him!" to their friends.
Anyway, I feel like I've strayed from the topic at hand. I'm tired, bored, and lonely, so I'm in a rambling sort of mood but there's my take on the whole "be unique!" thing.
I'll be honest, I like it this way. I'm mostly just tired and bored because it's been a long day and I don't really have anyone to talk to + I'm home alone tonight. Oh well, off to Sydney in a couple of days so that gives me something to look forward to.Yeah, i am tired and bored as well, really sad how the forum seems so dead right now...
I have nothing to look forward too that's why it kinda bothers me right now i guessI'll be honest, I like it this way. This is a genuinely fantastic point that I didn't think of in my original post. Archetypes persist throughout the history of humanity. I guess the personality test (MBTI, is it?) describes archetypes fairly well. While on paper, all individuals are biologically 'unique', people (some to a lesser degree than others), tend to fall into the same archetypes or tropes that have persisted since the beginning of humanity, almost manufactured off assembly lines... I don't think one can be entirely original.
Yeah, I think MBTI is pretty gay in that some people parade it as part of their self-identity. I don't think the depth of human personality can be completely scientifically quantified either. That aside, from the tests I've done, I've scored as INFP.is like horoscopes
Yeah, identifying with it completely is pretty stupid. No one should identify themselves as part of one singular thing as that'll just make them come off as incredibly shallow and lacking any emotional depth. It's very akin to the whole LGBT bullshit. People identify with it, latch onto it, then make it their whole personality. Same with politics, too. While politics is a big part of my life given my friend group and aspirations to be a politician in the future, I definitely don't make it all I am. Same with my religion, too. It isn't who I am, but it is a fundamental part of me.Yeah, I think MBTI is pretty gay in that some people parade it as part of their self-identity.
