Im a fan of british rule I thin they simply have wisdom and they have a fresh memory of what it means to be an empire. So, many of their behaviors seem weird, like throwing jokes, or being gentle and somewhat arrogant, I think it all comes from a form of wisdom you develop when you realize you have power, capacity for violence, but you have to prevent it.
