Monroe never called them Archons. In Far Journeys he claimed to receive information during an OBE about a creator like “Someone,” Earth as a “Garden,” and entities called “Collectors” involved with harvesting Loosh.

Later writers noticed that this resembles the Gnostic Demiurge/Archon cosmology and connected the two. So Monroe is a modern independent ish parallel, not the original source for Archons.

That's what I find most interesting about him and his writing.
