By this I mean the social aspect of the internet specifically. Doesn’t feel like it provides any real significant value or utility nowadays.

I guess you could say it’s because there’s a lack of genuine interaction, that’s one part of it. But broadly speaking the medium itself has degraded and become over-saturated over time. It just followed the overall cultural and societal downward trend.

The current zeitgeist has spawned a new generation of extreme pessimists, misanthropes and narcissists, which has made overall discourse less pleasant.

Of course some of that leaks into meatspace but it stays heavily concentrated online and contaminates online spaces across the internet as a whole due to the anonymous and unfiltered nature of the web.

So yeah, it’s a systemic problem and touches chords surrounding people’s intra-personal relationships with one another and the nature of society as a whole. Tbh, I can’t really put too much blame on this generation of young people — yes, many are emotionally underdeveloped and mentally unstable but it is conditions and external forces out of their immediate control (some set out years before they could do anything about it) that have led to these outcomes.

Tbh I don’t really fuck with the internet, at least the social aspect nowadays, because I think the populace at large is kinda fucked in the head in some shape or form. Internet is still useful for vidya, porn, information, pirating random shit, etc.

The current state of the internet is pretty sad. I said this somewhere else, but I was playing some older games. I had to use GameFAQ to figure some shit out. Users back then were SIGNIFICANTLY less hostile and narcissistic. There was actual communities of social outcasts on the internet who just wanted to discuss their hobbies. And you're 100% right. It has a lot to do with the current state of society. Individualism and liberalism is being praised over collectivism. The younger generation are atomized, and basically retarded when it comes to social interaction. I don't really see this changing anytime soon.

I'm with you on not bothering with the internet for interaction either. I prefer my own company at this point. For me, it's more so the fact that these spaces that we are currently in are filled with doomerism. I wish we'd see more discussion of media, and users everyday lives. But it's mostly filled with the same repetitive BP topics.

I think it is a lack of civic standards and general social etiquette which has degraded. I don’t think it is an either/or where ‘individualism’ or ‘collectivism’ has to win over the other. I for one am sure that a significant number here have not experienced the greatest treatment by the ‘collective majority’. Ideally there would be a healthy balance between the two.

I want to point out also declining civic standards is also a symptom and not the underlying cause of what is driving all these changes in society.

It’s probably easy to pin it all on ‘complex social engineering by the elites’ but what might be a controversial take here, while policy decisions have made an impact, haven’t these changes in society been mostly spear-headed by the masses themselves?

Nowadays, aren’t the common people the avant-garde, producers and gatekeepers of modern culture?

Post-war prosperity and the diminishing power and wealth of the aristocratic class lead to the collective underclass taking the reins, and society/culture simply followed suit.

Of course I am saying this a peon myself but it is hard not to notice the lack of visibility of the nobility in modern society, whereas in the past they were responsible for shaping the culture and standards of civil society.

Yeah on that note it’s kinda funny that while the ‘normie’ side of the internet is extremely grating and a total slopfest, it’s not like fringe internet spaces aren’t flawed in their own way either. Two sides of the same coin tbh.

That can also be true as well with the rise in nigger culture amongst the newer generations. Barely anyone uses formalities, or show much respect to their superiors, or people in general. Regarding individualism, there definitely should be a balance. Lack of individualism forces people to conform as a hivemind. It's pretty dumb for social outcasts to conform when the collective majority have shunned them. That's why users are very anti-normie

I mentioned nigger culture above. I think the blame being shifted to the "elites" is their mass control over media and education. The elites know the underclass is a hivemind. The degenerate culture that comes from blacks (gang violence, drug dealing, hypersexuality) is being pushed into the mainstream media. And the elites know normies barely have autonomy, so normies will, as you mentioned, produce the current modern culture as well.

There is still a harsh amount of hostility and hierarchy in these spaces, which are supposed to be for social outcasts. The normie side of the internet is filled with irony culture, and whatever shit the mainstream media puts out.

I would be in incel.is if they didn't warn me off for having opposed lookism.
Lookism is the worst thing that ever happened to the manosphere, not just to the blackpill but all of it.
Everywhere I see there are only ugly, dumb, low-IQ subhuman ogres breeding like rats, and believing they have more rights because they are married with kids.
Then I go to the internet and the opposite is told in the forums, that women wants square-jaw chad(tm) and basement chud cant breed. It is a narrative straight out of a comic book, which dont fit reality in the streets.
The looksmaxxing culture blowed the entire building, and the internet as a whole has came down with it. You cant talk about your hobbies anymore, because no one is interested, they only want to talk about chad and stacy. I showed my work, got only one or two likes here and there. And if I go to the mainstream I get shadowbanned for being neurodivergent.
So there is no point about talking about hobbies, just parrot the latest dumb narrative and you will be fine. But not for me. I'm a builder, not a shitposter. I can't ever get bored because I'm always overwhelmed by interesting stuff.
For instance, yesterday I watched "The Third Man", with a 16-235 to 0-255 post-processing shader, and after seeing the chase in the sewers got an idea of building a noir-styled dwemer dungeon, with a heavily desaturated (or even black and white) imagespace and a high contrast light scheme. But I can't talk about it in the internet, no one is interested, they only want to talk about the latest nigger/whore music video, or the latest political conundrum, or their shit coping slave religions, like programmed meatbots. In fact, I can only talk about my interests with IAs, and it was Gemini which recommended the movie. The irony of it.

The last one to go out, please turn the lights off.

If I had to guess, the internet has buried true social interaction under three pillars of virtue: sincerity, creativity and consistency.
Without consistency, it'll flicker like a broken bulb.
Without sincerity, it'll be buried under layers of irony.
Without creativity, it'll be bland as water.

However, mainstream internet actively incentivizes the complete opposite of these virtues, contorting them for its own gain:
-Consistency twists into a treadmill, as the moment connection becomes an obligation to feed, the bulb just burns out.
-Sincerity becomes a sore spot, as the younger generation sees earnest vulnerability as weakness, cynicism becomes an armor that protects one of such "weakness" while suffocating them from the inside.
-Creativity flattens into templates, as true novelty requires the risk of being misunderstood and opposing the norm, the algorithm instead rewards recognizable formats and punishes nonconformity.

If you erase them away, what passes for social interaction is just performance for wanting to belong, disguised as wanting to be yourself.

Strange post... You seem to be running away from yourself?

If you want something, you can then take the steps to get it. You're not guaranteed anything straight away, but you'll make progress whatever it is that you want. Heck, you can even make progress towards clearly impossible goals and still achieve real results.

Blackpillers seem like fakecels whose entire chosen meaning in life is to create excuses as to why it's so over for them and why they don't have to do anything. Recline and whine. It's funny when it's all for a joke until you meet some of the more delusional retards who have bookshelves and shit talk on how to run society and actually take this shit at face value. They don't seem to be able to learn at all, they just obtain a better vocabulary for their self-pitying and postmaxxing. It's like their cosmogony is one giant pussy with orbiter saints.

The search bar isn't useless, maybe it's a bit too useful but a lot of people just seem to only find shit. Maybe it's their search terms, is anyone willing to tell me about that?

If you want a low cortisol network, you can create it AND have the results that you want.

Not true at all, you have a broken antenna mate.

I don't think it's lookism, there were a lot of competing theories in the manosphere back in the day and they would all swear their lives on them. It makes sense because the cultures aren't the same everywhere, so some lifestyles are more successful in different places than others.

There was a generational shift and the users that got useful results in their lives tended to leave and enjoy their personal lives after making a few effortposts and some friends along the way. All of the more useful pill communities are gone today, everyone's happy living the life they built. The more destructive a theory is, the more it ends up getting pushed. The successful theories end up causing the members to go inactive because they're so busy living life. The manosphere somehow through stigma and the bullshit ended up self-selecting for the worst male traits and characters.

It's not the looksmaxxers because those guys are all young tiktokcels and newbies who joined after all the malicious theories and beliefs had been put together on reddit and incel forums. For some reason they're pushing their theories everywhere, even /pol/stein is complaining about it. It's probably their chosen meaning and the giant space pussy.

Paragon invented the blackpill and then fucked off to SEA to get himself a life. He didn't waste his youth reading interwar social commentary and then whining about getting laid. Not that there's anything wrong with reading the niche content, it just doesn't translate to dating.
I’m not a blackpiller
