Top coat. Not the oil mix.
Ingredients are:
- 50% beeswax. Plasticizes the mix, has some friction when you touch it, flexible. Downside is low melting point, does not fills small details.
- ricebran 20%. Its harder wax, fills pores, more transparent.
- carnauba 10%. Hard wax, brittle, fills better microscopic pores.
- regalrez art preservation resin 20%. This resin is sold in various versions, I use 1126 because is tougher and has higher melting point.
-60-70% of turpentine. Eyeballed quantity I dont care.
How to melt it: double boiler for wax. Dont go above 90 degrees. Regalrez needs higher temperature or it remains inside the wax like some sort of dust. What I do is use heat meltagun so I can control the temperature. Around 120 degrees is cool to melt regalrez but it will solidify very quickly so you have to be fast. Also, be careful not use meltagun on turpentine. Dont use any openflame.
Once regalrez is liquid pour into the wax. Because regalrez solves in aromatic solvents, the 70% turpentine keeps it dissolved and spreadable.
Once is done is gona stay liquid for a long time. Around 2 or 3 hours. Here is liquid, the color will change depending which grade of wax you purchased. Wax colors a lot. But dont be worried, once is applied is transparent.
Here cream when is cooled down.
There are physical kinetic problems to melt these ingredients, because they have different melting point. Regalrez can be mixed with the wax chains, but you need turpentine to keep it solved.
How to apply: spread by hand, then leave it there to evaporate for some time. Wait hours. Then hit with the meltagun, eventually remove excesses with a cloth. Then rub with all your strength, as if youre jerking hentai. Result: liquid glass that still feels like wood.
Final result is very very resistant to temperatures. Resists scratches insanely well. Hydrophobic. UV stable. Repairable. Easy to remove in case you dont want it.
