I never read Evola per se, but I got a strong impression that it's mystical literature in the context of fascist Italy. The people who mention him skimmed through the books for 2 weeks and then LARP as in-the-know.

Anything mystical and esoterical that's discussed on the Internet is utterly clownish; I had my share of that and I'd rather not.

If you want something Axis-style, Oswald Spengler is a mogger and he's interesting to read. That's the type of man that can take on on the world. Evolians would badly fail to develop weapons and lose to Ethiopia (true story).

Haven't read Evola because I thought he is just like chud favorite author. When it comes to perennial philosophy I just thought Guenon had more credence because he actually engaged in Sufi mysticism.

"Hour of Decision" is his political manifesto, "Man and Technology" muses about tech. Haven't read him in a while frankly.

"Decline of the West" is a 2 volume book, with the second volume often out of print (mysteriously). And I do have all that as physical books, I'm not a fraud.

I don't think it's a forum thing.

Politics and social media is getting retarded with all the unhappy and lonely communists, ancaps, femcels and incels that hate each other. I get that it's shit, but how is that improved? Going online and joining in the dumpster fire? They don't even care to eat clean or lift a single dumbbell. They're all socially and economically incompatible idpols.

Discussion - Happiness shouldn't be too difficult to achieve for most people.

The recorded human history is roughly about 12,000 years, but modern humans have existed for at least 300,000 years. Life was brutally poor for most of that time, still is for some people, but... We're here so, it must have all been worth it for some reason. What did they do in their free time?

Happiness is the ability to enjoy in peace without anxiety. It has nothing to do with politics or identity. You can get plenty of joy with a dog and a tennis ball but not if you're ill or preoccupied with drama.

Tldr: Dismissing him because his name got attached to some online aesthetic is like dismissing nietzsche because some 15yr old mall goth misquote him in their facebook profile.

The rejection of 'modernity' is indirectly an answer to the living free willed side of the vertiginous question because there's never a modernity like the "here" and the "now". For each soul, their subjective modernity is their "today". It's rejection, especially by suicide, is such a blasphemy that when it's coupled with the loss of free will by death is unlikely to lead to anything but a neverending torment. No amount of literary squirming, and I admit it's Nobel tier, will ever save the soul from the "fire", and that's about the only way you could describe the torment to a mediaeval normie. It's all presentation, which is what Mishima was. He was an extreme aesthete and an empty shell. What men and what reward? Is his manifesto better because he has a better pen?

One could cry about how it's over for Beowulf but it's time to move on to Shakespeare, each fall is an opportunity for the next and there's no better flattery than imitation. The only answer is to authentically find oneself and do what's best for the future, so the the future "now" is better instead of rejecting it. Find others and make new music with them. You deal with the problems, and you survive or you don't. If you hit the end, then it better be the end, but how sure are you of any of that?

Find your place in the new world, make yourself.

Salvation cults try to make this outcome impossible by getting people to accept "safety tickets" to an eternal life which they fill up with their happy wishes. They live their lives happily and actually achieve moments of continuous happiness in their mortal lives that they can recall. It's not about what's on the ticket unless it's absolute BS IRL, it's the body of the ticket itself. It's about being the gardener of one's happiness, amor fati.
