In the early 1940s to the mid-1950s lobotomy was a thing to do on a upptie women. It was used to treat, or often quiet, women displaying socially dysfunctional behaviors, such as anxiety, depression, disobedience, or emotional outbursts; rendering them docile, compliant, and domestic.
I find that to be comical and not because of what you might be thinking. It sorta ties into the fact that we/us/humanity no matter what era tend to imagine we are at the peek of intelligenice and that all science is settled. It also ties into morality and how it is fluid and ever changing.
Often we can all agree on some basics but in the end the campus moves often to fit the society at large.
And that linked together, the idea of we have peeked out on science, philosophy, and creation.
