What happens with depression is that I lose the capacity to feel, and for me, feeling is very important since by feeling meditation it is how I can fight pain, fear, shame, sadness, but when I'm depressed I can't feel anything, so there's nothing to fight. It seems depression is fought not directly, but indirectly: Loving kindness meditation. I started remembering and meditating on giving love to those things and people which I hold dear, and the depression started dissapearing slowly.
I meditated too on self-love and self-compassion.

One possible explanation for why love and compassion may be helpful for depression is that they can help to activate the brain's reward system. When we experience love and compassion, our brains release dopamine, a neurotransmitter that is associated with pleasure and motivation. Dopamine can help to improve our mood and make us feel more hopeful and optimistic.
Additionally, love and compassion can help to reduce inflammation in the body. Inflammation is a normal bodily response to injury or infection, but chronic inflammation can contribute to a number of health problems, including depression. Studies have shown that people who practice loving-kindness meditation have lower levels of inflammation in their bodies.
Finally, love and compassion can help to strengthen our social connections. Social connections are important for our mental health, and people who have strong social connections tend to be happier and healthier. When we practice love and compassion, we are more likely to reach out to others and build strong relationships.
