20 years ago, nobody would think the right wing would preach the use of recreative drugs, quite the contrary.
But today we have Joe Rogan, Elon Musk, among many others, preaching the use of DMT, and I'm kind of annoyed by it, because it is sold as a solution for spiritual experiences. However, none of them mentions that DMT is produced by the brain, and that people with hyperphantasia should not take it, else they might have an overdose. Since most of the public is made of golems without inner dialogue, nobody cares for this irresponsible behaviour from these influencers, but it strikes me the authorities, so dedicated to the "war on drugs" wont do anything about this massive propaganda campaign for the use of DMT. This just proves, once again, that influencing is a scam.

The book was written in 1971

There's a line where Thompson notes that pure acid or DMT had become almost as rare as Methedrine on the 1971 market

He remarking that "consciousness expansion" had gone out with LBJ (goodreads) meaning DMT wasn't just known in 1971, it was already old news by then, already nostalgic for a prior countercultural peak that had passed.

That's 55 years ago, not 20, and the framing is literally "this used to be a thing, now it's gone."

DMT synthesis dates to 1931 (Manske), the psychoactive effects were characterized by Szára in the 1950s.

McKenna's The Invisible Landscape and DMT-focused ayahuasca discourse was well underway by the 70s-80s.

Terence McKenna was doing university lecture circuits on it in the 80s 90s.

Strassman's clinical DMT studies at the University of New Mexico ran 1990-1995 with the resulting book DMT: The Spirit Molecule(I have this book since Highschool) published in 2000

That's 26 years ago, already mainstream enough to become a documentary.

None of this is fringe knowledge; it's the standard reference chain anyone on DMT Nexus would know cold.

And I have hyperphantasia.
