2. you being morally obligated to be a law-abiding citizen and not steal
then you have no reason to not shoplift. I do it to save money and occasionally time. I usually go for energy drinks, softmaxxing products, food, and groceries for my parents. If you're under the age of 18 like me, then you are pretty much missing out via not deciding to shoplift. You get free stuff, it's fun, rewarding, and ultimately a skill.

I've noticed that corporate supermarkets have been introducing more stringent security measures against shoplifting, another indication of the eroding social cohesiveness in society compared to decades previously.

The availability of products for you to grab and bring to counter yourself is the mark of the trust that the vendor is giving you. Common sweets are left in racks by the checkout, electronics are keyed up in lockers. Choosing to abuse this trust doesn’t really matter for petty stuff, but if an individual repeatedly performs such actions without an immediate threat to resolve by obtaining the products they take, and even claims to enjoy the act itself, then maybe it indicates an issue of emotional immaturity in which the individual cannot understand their role in a higher-level societal interaction as this one, as well as a deprivation of intrinsic happiness, and probably leads to the individual attempting more bullshit.

I have no qualms with stealing from large, very successful companies (like Walmart, Target, Costco, etc.), especially if it’s necessities that you’re stealing. However, I wouldn’t do it because I feel like the gain of stealing random shit isn’t worth the potential risk of fucking up my record and future.
