Not going to watch an ai video. Trust family to what?
What would they do, murder me in my sleep?
Basically saying don't tell them these 7 things.
1. Don't tell them new goals around money and work.
2. Don't tell your past trauma, especially shit they or another family member did.
3. Shit your partner did if you're still with them.
4. New ideas and philosophy, especially if they're not for it.
5. Any savings and rainy day funds
6. Your regrets
7. The family problems or that you know of these yourself.

Well, it makes sense. Especially for the time he was living in. Hell, it's still true today. Family often is the one that have the best chance to stab you in the back cause of the reasons given. I agree, is it all family. No, but this is basically saying hold off on telling your family these 7 things and you shouldn't have much of a problem with them then if you did.

I don't have that experience and it seems to be some sort of an American phenomenon, or western trait. I had to take care of my mom up untill she died in hospice.

I do fully accept that what you are describing is a reality if not for some but most men in society truly, I'm just saying it's bleak.

On number 1, Money goals issue I can't follow from my personal life.

Number 2 I have seen in other people's parents, in particular I had a friend that whenever they brought up the physical abuse that they went under the mother would just act dumb and say "idk what childhood you grew up in"

Cant relate to 3

On 4 I enjoyed talking to my mother about new and interesting things going on in my age groups and below (my father died when I was really young fyi that's why I won't be bringing him up)

I understand 5 but again bleak

Idk man I know life is really hard I'm trying to relate, truly my sympathies go out to people who have to live by those rules.

Well, the idea is do you open the gate and risk they willing stabbing you in the back or even accidentally letting someone know about said weakness. Plus, makes sense cause especially after you get older, you shouldn't see family as a protection but maybe people you can lower a little bit more than strangers. Remember, they even put it will feel wrong as we are taught at a young age to trust family and all. However, that often the reason people never see the backstabbed till it happens cause they blindly trust their family.

Not to pry, but shoe on the other foot hypothetically would you have that type of relationship with your children?

It hasn't been for me, but I am not going to deny that is a thing for others.

I am going to protect them but I am not going to hide the fact this is a thing that happens to others and they should understand why people might need to be like that towards their family and others. Denying that happens just cause you think they're better off on no knowing will cause problems down the line. Now not going to tell the 2 year old that still getting the hang of potty training about this stuff but as they get older, yeah I be more willing to let them know about the real world.
