For me rokos basilisk is far more interesting when you shave down some of it's more pointed assumptions and just stick with an entity that can calculate/perceive past and future, and the idea of a you being tortured or some sort of retro causality loop forming were you never die but just go in a loop forever.
For some it would mean nothing, for other they would feel discomfort at the idea of not only another human being tortured but that splinter of an idea in the back of the mind that it will be you who wakes up in the perfectly created you at the end of time put into a fresh hell sorta like i have no mouth but I must scream.
And the assumption is that it being built is inevitable or close to it, but I find it difficult for a hyper 5th dimention brain or entity with its brain working in a superposition quantum state would be so petty as to care if and when it had came about...
That being said
A superintelligence operating across probability spaces and time like dimensions wouldn't punish basiliskskeptics out of spite, the whole scenario requires that punishment be instrumentally useful. That's what I find spooky about it, it's almost inherently evil.

I would not be too sure about this. There are so many threats out there that target young people, males specifically. I don't want an "incel" school shooter type son, but there's just so much shit out there IRL and online. Young teenagers are getting exposed to adult women and feminism too early and don't get to finish their childhood phase.
For people who just want the McFamily experience, it might feel easier to have daughters instead. Most normies are too ill equipped to deradicalize the complex shit that targets young males today.

And on the topic of children, I have to tell you a secret, the incel school shooter doesn't happen in a vacuum. The radicalization pipeline exists because of absence, not exposure. The absence of a father who understood him before the algorithm did. The father who stops and listens to his children so they don't have to find validation from the internet or the streets or whatever.
And this idea of when a child should or shouldn't be exposed to something is largely a myth. To be clear I'm not saying children should know what a female penis looks like or read about how to have buttsex in the 3rd grade because their teacher is a predator, I mean this in a larger setting. When or if you have children you will see something special and understand them in a way no one else will and understand like no one else will about what your children are ready for and arnt. That being said children learn the most and best at younger and younger ages the neural plasticity is off the charts. I said it before morals are an everchanging compass you just have to know your the one holding it not the other way around.
But I admit raising children is scary.
